we sat at a table and ate. we talked for a long time, but neither of us said a thing.

we spent a lot of time with our eyes fixed on our food or the table between us. it wasn't bad, but i held tears in my eyes the whole way home.

the new year was wonderful, although chunks of it are only a blur. we are a beautiful family and we love each other, that is all one can ever need or ask for.
